Like a string of pearls

Dry and sunny winter days are rare and wonderful here in the Willamette Valley, and a whole string of them is enough to make one giddy. So giddy, in fact, that we got busy and took down the Christmas tree, pulled the Christmas lights off the house, vacuumed and washed windows! We have always left our tree up until after New Year's, but it feels good let the light pour in and have more space.

Let the sun shine... I'm afraid to check the weather forecast, for fear of what is coming. Our tree went up in blaze of glory today in the burn pile.

We have sunshine today, too! (We hardly recognized what it was.) Unfortunately, this time of year the sun usually shines on cold days. We have 9 above now at 1 p.m. Our coldest daytime temp so far this winter.

Many wishes to you and your family for a really great New Year of 2013!

We throw our branches in for the sheep from our evergreen trees, a little bit here and there. They love them.
